VP SEO - Global Settings

Open System - VP SEO from the Plugins list. These options apply site-wide and act as fallbacks for articles that don't set their own values.

Basic settings

  • Default Description — a meta description used when an article has neither its own meta description nor enough text to auto-generate one. Leave empty to skip.
  • Default Image — the social image (og:image / twitter:image) used when an article has no suitable image of its own. Use a raster image at 1200 × 630; never an SVG.
  • Auto Description — when enabled, VP SEO generates a meta description from the article's intro text if none is set, cleaned of HTML and trimmed to a search-friendly length (~160 characters).
  • Twitter Site — your site's X/Twitter handle (e.g. @vpjoomla), output as twitter:site. Optional.

Pro settings PRO

  • Title Pattern — a template applied to every article title (see Title Templates). Example: {title} {sep} {sitename}.
  • Title Separator — the visual separator used by the pattern, e.g. | or . Default |.
  • Auto Canonical — when enabled, single articles without a manual canonical get one generated automatically from their clean SEF URL.
  • Article Metadata — toggles output of article:author, article:section and article:tag on single articles.

Always set a Default Image. It guarantees that even pages without their own image still produce a complete social card.
